Pak Suzuki is set to introduce the AGS version of its 1000cc Wagon R hatchback early next year. In the meantime, let's take a look at the latest images revealed for the upcoming model.

About Wagon R

Based on the details, the new and third Wagon R variants will be no different than the existing ones except for the difference in transmission. The company is not expected to make any other changes to the car, considering the hatchback's price constraint. Suzuki Wagon R has been a success story of the Japanese automaker in Pakistan. However, the hatchback has now lost free-flow sales primarily due to its rising price and the introduction of a comparatively smaller 660cc Alto. Wagon R is currently available on the local market in two variants, namely VXR and VXL.

The Wagon R Auto-Gear Shift version will make its entry into the local market next year. The company has yet to reveal any final release date for the automatic version.

On the other hand, Wagon R has lost significant market share in the last six months. The imposition of federal excise duties (FED), as well as the devaluation of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar, greatly increased its price. As a result, its sales have dropped and consumers prefer to buy the 660cc Alto. In the first five months of the current fiscal year, its sales are down 74.97%. The automaker only managed to sell 3,339 Wagon Rs in the July-November period. Pak Suzuki produced 6356 units of its hatchback in this period, demonstrating the low demand in the market. Take a look at the comparison of the Wagon R sales statistics in fiscal year 2019-20 with its corresponding period last year.
