The Toyota Corolla (E140 / E150) is the tenth generation of cars sold by Toyota under the Corolla nameplate. Launched at the end of 2006, this series was replaced in 2012 in Japan, with the North American model replaced at the end of 2013 and a launch in early 2014 for most other markets.
The dimensions of the Corolla sold in Japan were smaller than those of vehicles intended for export in order to remain in compliance with the regulations of the Japanese government regarding the external dimensions and the displacement of the engine. The Corolla was slightly longer for the 4540mm (178.7in) export models and 1760mm (69.3in) wider than the outgoing model.
The chassis of the E140 is based on the Toyota MC platform, the E150 model deriving from the New MC platform. [4] In other words, the Japanese E140 market has taken over its MC platform from the previous E120. The versions sold in the Americas, Southeast Asia and the Middle East were based on the expanded edition of this platform, so they retained the E140 designation. Models sold in Australia, Europe and South Africa used the more sophisticated foundations of New MC, and were therefore designated E150.
