About Skateboard:
A skateboard is used for skating.The skateboarder moves by pushing off with one foot with the other foot balanced on the board, or by pumping their legs into structures like a bowl or half pipe. A skateboard can also be used by simply standing on the deck during a downhill slope and allowing gravity to propel the board and rider. If the rider's leading foot is his right foot, he is said to be rolling "awkward"; if the rider's leading foot is his left foot, he is said to be rolling "regularly". If the rider is normally regular but chooses to ride awkward (or vice versa), he is said to be riding "switch". A skater is generally more comfortable pushing with their back foot; choosing to push off with the front foot is commonly referred to as "mongo" riding, and has negative connotations of style and efficiency in the skateboarding community.
In the early 2000s, electric skateboards also appeared. These no longer require propulsion of the skateboard by means of the feet; rather an electric motor propels the board, powered by an electric battery.
There is no governing body that declares regulations about what constitutes a skateboard or the parts from which it is assembled. Historically, skateboarding has conformed to both contemporary trends and the ever-changing range of stunts performed by riders / users, which require some functionality from the board. The shape of the board largely depends on its desired function.
Longboards are generally faster and are primarily used for cruising and racing, while shortboards are primarily used for tricks and riding in skateparks.
